Just hade my sleeve on the Feb. 10th. Has anyone experienced pain on the left side making it hard to take a deep breath? Sometimes I think it may be gas pains but not sure. I take liquid hydrocodone for pain and it doesnt help it at all. Do I need to call my surgeon or give it a couple more days?

I just had my sleeve on the 9th and I'm still having pain. I did have pain on my side when I'd take a deep breath, but that went away. My problem now is, I'm not sure if I'm hungry or not. Its hard to tell if it's hunger pain or just pain, it feels the same.

Good to hear! I heard it may take a while before you poop because you are mainly on liquids at this time. Today I feel like you do...I dont know if its hunger pain or not...

I had mine on the 9th and I am still experiencing a ton of gas and haven't pooped since the day before surgery. I am finding it really difficult to gauge hunger and fullness because all I feel is gassy! I get up and walk every hour or so and it helps some with the gas, but it seems like the smallest sips of liquid cause gas pains. I hope this resolves itself soon. Healing thoughts to all of you and please post if you find relief for the gas/poop issues. I plan to call my surgeon if things don't improve over the weekend.

I was sleeved on 2/12 and am actually writing this from my hospital bed. I've been burping a lot and have had a lot of gurgling. Most of the pain I am experiencing is from the gas they used to "blow up" my tummy. My diaphragm is still recovering so it still hurts..

Anyways glad to hear I'm not alone and this just appears to be normal part of the process..

I recently had my surgery on Feb. 9th and I am experiencing the same painful episodes that you are. Prior to my hospital release, I was prescribed Lidocaine Patches that I place over the hurtful incision for 12 hours per day. The patches have eased the pain

tremendously.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
