I'm still eating right no soda, no bread, no fried foods, only egg whites, grilled chicken and grilled chicken salad any suggestions I'm thinking of doing all liquids for a couple days a week or a week with all liquids any other suggestions

Are you eating enough? It sounds like you might actually be eating too little. What about exercise?

I hear you on the stall. I am down 107 pounds and just cannot get any lower. I've been up and down 2-3 pounds for the last 6 weeks. SO frustrating!

How much more do you need to lose?

Hello. I had my 6mth apt yesterday. I complained to my doc about a 6 week stall I had right after xmas. She explained that its just my body adjusting to a new norm with my metabolism. I eat approximately 800-950 calories a day. I eat pretty much the same variety of food and I exercise just about the same way or burn the same calories all the time. My body is saying...oh I can live with this, lets stay here. Eating a few more calories, trying to eat a different variety of food and doing a different type of exercise for a a few days and then go back to my norm might be enough to get the ball rolling again. Or my body could just be holding on because its afraid I am never going to stop eating such low calories so its storing every pound it can. She said that with some people nothing can be done to break it they just have to wait it out. A stall can last from a week to 2 or 3 mths depending on your metabolism, your normal calories in and out and how close you are weight wise to your set weight. Hang in there! Good luck!

I hear you guys too, @iamblessed1225 and @AvaFern - ! I was sleeved April 29 2014 and have lost 110 pounds and cannot get below this current weight of 177. I fluctuate a pound or 1.5 either side of that, but have been stuck there for around 8 weeks. Driving me nuts and making it hard to keep to my plan when I see no weight-loss results. Yes, I take measurements and Celebrate other goals like those on a run or the gym, but I really want to get to goal, and that's still 32 lbs away. Sigh. I eat around 750-800 calories a day, and no starchy carbs at all.

A couple days on liquids might shock the system into letting go again, but then be sure you go up again and keep getting enough Protein and calories meanwhile. Until then, know that you're not alone, and you're in good company here!

Let us know how it goes, okay? Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
