My surgeon finally cleared me today to transition to solid foods!!!

I've never been so excited in my life to be able to chew again!

He wants me down to 170ish by 6 months! I am so nervous and anxious from the pressure. What if I'm not?

I really don't want to let my bariatric team down! Well, nothing to it but to do it right?

I'm surprised that your surgeon is giving you target dates for your weight loss. A lot of surgeons don't even give goal weights, much less deadlines! Everyone loses at such drastically different paces, it seems unreasonable to try to put a timer on it.

If I had your surgeon, I'd be screwed! I'm coming up on 6 months in a couple of weeks and I've "only" lost 43 pounds so far!

He asked me what my goal weight was and I never really came up with one but he says I would probably be around there in 6 months or so.

Way to go.............I remember when I was able to eat solid food....I was soo excited.

As for your surgeon giving you a date to reach your goal. This is YOUR journey not His/Hers. You have a full year to reach the goal YOU want.

Todate I have lost over 63 pounds. I had my surgery on 11/21/14. I am loosing exatly how they want me to. They never have told me what I should weigh in how many months.

To me, that put alot of stress on you, which is not fair. You enjoy this ride, you do what you need to do to make it work. Just remember the surgery was just a tool, it is up to you to make it work.

Again, congrats..........Proud of you !!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
