I got sleeved on December 22 and have lost 50 pounds. I'm struggling to not go to my bad habits. I don't do fast food but am very weak with pizza. Cut a slice in have and make myself think that is fine because it's half a slice a oppose to 3 slices I ate before. This is discouraging!! My fear is to mess up.

When I had the lapband, during the successful phase, I was able to eat 1 slice of pizza for my meal and still lose weight. It's all about cutting back the Portion Control. As time went by and I wasn't doing well with the band, my portion sizes increased as well as my weight. Now I'm newly sleeved. I see nothing wrong with just 1 slice as long as you are exercising and eating healthy around that. Why deprave yourself of what you really enjoy? As long as it's not a lot and All the time you will be fine

I tried to do wonton wrapper crust pizza and the cheese repulsed me.

I love pizza, but the crust is way too much for my sleeved stomach. So I bought one piece and ate the topping - cheese, pepperoni and sausage. It was great and I didn't get a ball of dough stuck in my stomach from the crust.

Are you getting your Protein in? If so, then I don't see the harm in having some pizza now and then. The real problem would arise if you were sacrificing your protein to make room for pizza. As another poster mentioned, I have eaten the top off of pizza a couple of times post-op, but I can't be bothered with the crust. It takes up too much room and has no protein.

I went to a birthday party this past week at a pizza establishment. I ate the salad bar and then just ate the topping off of the pizza.< /p>

My favorite pizza place has the brick oven pizza with thin crust so I basically eat 3/4 of the slice because I eat the crust on the bottom but not the crust on the edge. It's super delicious and fills me up so I don't feel deprived plus it's nice to be able to eat what my family is eating. We get it with pepperoni, mushrooms, and olives.< /p>

Thanks for thr motivation!! I have been doing well with everything else. Just sometimes I slip up but its more of a snack then anything. I always have my Protein first. I have been doing two Protein Shakes a day and one actual meal. Next time I am going to do just the topping the crust does make me feel full and I can feel full for the rest of the day. I really want to try and not have these Snacks but its hard. My mind tells me to have it I eat it and feel terrible after like a failure.

This is probably leftover diet-mentality from before you had WLS. I don't want to encourage you to eat tons of junk or to snack/graze all the time, but if you completely deprive yourself of the things you love, you will make your self miserable and be more likely to fall off the bandwagon.

pizza has been my favorite food my entire life. Before my WLS, I could literally eat pizza every single day and never get tired of it. I could quite easily eat an entire large pizza in a single sitting and my favorite food on the planet was a Red Baron 4 cheese Classic Crust frozen pizza. I had at least one of those a week when I wasn't dieting (and even sometimes when I WAS dieting as my "cheat meal"). Post-op, once I was allowed solids again, I of course wanted to have a Red Baron pizza right away. I bought one. I cooked it. I couldn't even eat two slices.

The truth is, it didn't satisfy me the way it had before. Since I couldn't eat much of it, it wasn't the same experience. I tried it maybe one or two more times since then, but now I just have no interest. I'm a little over 5 months post-op and I have accepted that I just can't eat for pleasure the same way I used to. Don't get me wrong, I still have foods that I can and do enjoy post-op, but the bingeing and huge satisfying meals just can't happen anymore.

I definitely don't go out of my way to have pizza of any sort anymore. If I were at a party with pizza and limited other food options, then I might go for the pizza toppings at least. But, even just recently at a Super Bowl party, there was pizza galore and I didn't touch it, because there was also chili and that seemed like a much better protein-rich option.

I'm on board with the pizza toppings. I've had pizza 3-4 times since surgery and I usually stick to the toppings. May be a little greasy but at least there is some Protein to be had in the cheese & meat. Of course, I get my real Protein before indulging. I agree that there is no harm in enjoying your favorite food as long as you don't let it become a slider food that leads you to old bad habits. Just remember, everything balanced and in moderation.

This is something that makes me nervous! Friday night is pizza night with the kids and hubby, and we try to do thin crust (papa Murphy delite) but I love it. I plan on doing just the toppings, but I am going to skip the pizza for a while. I know we will all be healthier for it. Maybe even make it at home with a flat out. Glad I am not the only one with this weakness!!

The blog World According to Eggface has a quick, simple & tasty pizza recipe that uses a low carb wheat tortilla as the base. I made it using low carb Tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, artichoke hearts, and mushrooms. You can put whatever you want on yours. It was AWESOME!!! And I ate my 2 slices while my family ate their Papa Johns :). I totally did not miss the regular pizza.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
