Hair falling out after 2 months!

Recommended Posts

Having some Hair loss after my surgery. What Shampoo and should I continue to color. I do have my hair colored in a salon. I also started taking Biotin. Any suggestions?

I use Ojon reconstructive and thickening Shampoo and conditioner. It's absolutely amazing. I'm 7 months out, starting losing hair by the handful at about 3 months. Suffered with the loss for a couple months before I discovered this. Found it at Ulta. It runs $25 per bottle, but I'm still on my first bottles, so it lasts a while! My hair instantly felt thicker and within a week the Hair loss showed down. Now the loss is non existent! Best find ever!!!

You should definitely stop coloring. I've had to as well, so I know it sucks. It'll be worth it though! Every time you color you're damaging your hair. You want your hair to be as health as possible right now to give it the best chance it can have.

I've been using this Shampoo with Biotin in it, but I know there are much better products out there. There are a ton of forums on this with lots of shampoo info if u search it.

Also, be sure you're taking 10,000mcg of biotin daily & getting your Protein in.

... If that doesn't work, we can be wig sisters! Lol that's my plan.

This is something that I really want people to understand. I'm a certified colorist and someone who has struggled with this. Coloring your hair breaks down the bonds in your hair. If you're covering grey you break down less bonds than if you lighten your hair. Both do some damage. A Demi hair color which contains no ammonia is your safest bet because it doesn't change the structure of hair. That being said, it won't give you 100% grey coverage. Depending on how much melanin is in your hair and what your wanted outcome..it's just all relative.

I noticed Hair loss at about 4 months out. By noticed I mean my hair was everywhere except on my head. As a professional I looked closer into this. One thing I learned and noticed on myself is that I wasn't necessarily losing my hair; it was breaking off. Hair is made primarily of Protein and the lack of protein causes breakage. I immediately started protein treatments (always took biotin) but the only thing that really helped was reducing weight. So.. If you have long hair, consider taking it shorter. It hurts but it stops the breakage from too much weight and not enough protein structure.

If you love your color, continue coloring. Let your stylist know what is going on and they can help. You won't end up bald, trust me. This side effect only lasts about 4 months and it's sooooo worth it.post-247233-14237312600748_thumb.jpg

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
