I am two weeks post-op. I'm having a tough time getting all the liquid in and eating enough. With no drink 30 mins. Prior or after its hard to know when exactly I should it. Does anyone else have trouble with this balancing act?

I totally heat you!! My surgery was 1-28-15 and I was in the hospital for seven days. When u finally came home I tried to schedule my day through my phone alarms. I started at 7:30 and every half hour it goes off. So, first alarm 7:30, then next one at 8:00 I eat a "meal" you are supposed to take 30:00 min for you meals. Then the next alarm 8:30 tells me to stop eating, then at 9:00 to 9:30 I have my fluids, then at 10:00-10:30 I eat another meal and so on all through out the day until I have had six "meals" for the day. It may seem over kill but for me I'm never hungry or really thirsty so for now this keep me accountable. Hope I helped :)

While I am still pre-op I've been nervous about how this would work. @@thin-for-kidney that sounds like a good idea, I'm going to add it to my list of tips! Thanks!

There is a phone app called Bariatric Timer that you can download. I am also two weeks post op but I have not had a issue with the timing.

Wow thin-for-kidney, you are eating six times a day! That is amazing, I am only eating 2oz three times a day and I have to force myself to eat those three and finish them! I am never hungry and get full real fast.

I too am having some trouble getting in all of the liquid and Protein shakes. I get caught up at work sometime and "forget" to drink. I am also still having issues with the supplements. I did find a couple Calcium citrate supplements that I can stomache but they still are not "goog" and I have to force myself to take them at least once, I have yet to take them three times in a day like I am supposed to.

Don't get me wrong! I am having a hard time too lol, I'm not always getting all of my *six" meals in, I definitely get at least four to five, but boy howdy! That last one is really hard to nail down. I'm just soooo tired that its very easy to "put off" eating cause I'm not hungry at all!!!! I really wish I could have had like a two day simulation of what life would be like after surgery, I'm not regretting it at all!! :) but just so I could REALLY prepare my mind for what to expect

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
