New Study suggests 12K steps a day! Ugh

Recommended Posts

I have been struggling to get my 10,000 steps in using my FitBit. Now they suggest 12,000 steps!

What do YOU think?

I think if you are doing 10,000 steps a day you should be patting yourself on the back. If more happen good for you, if they don't you're still amazing. Think about how many steps you were taking prior to surgery!!!!

My opinion:

More movement is better than less.

Based on my own understanding of how complex metabolism is, I am not very impressed with the study design.

Anyone who is interested in being more healthy isn't going to be drinking sodas with high fructose corn Syrup.< /p>

As an aside, as someone who is super morbidly obese and never drank non-diet soda, I find it interesting that "sugary" sodas are singled out as a major culprit in obesity -- I have come to believe that artificial sweeteners are at least as much a cause as high fructose corn syrup.

@@Sunshine_Gal THANKS!!! I always thought it would be easier after the surgery, but It remains a daily struggle.

@@Inner Surfer Girl I agree with you that the study was not scientifically sound, and the association with "sugary" sodas seemed random. I guess, for me, I had an emotional response from my ongoing struggle to meet my personal fitness goals. I appreciate the response.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
