I finished my pre-op drinks when I felt hungry. I usually didn't eat with the family. I suggest dumping everything into the crock pot on low in the morning. It's done when dinner time rolls around, & you don't have to keep staring at it.

Depending on the specifics of your pre-op plan, you should probably just not even try to eat with your family. Have your shakes on your schedule. Remember, you are going to have a lot of restrictions on your diet post-op, so it's best to get used to this now. Eventually you'll be able to eat solids again and can enjoy some of the foods you make for your family (I always just have the Protein from whatever dinner we're having), but that will be a long way off. It will definitely be a challenge if you are still having to cook for them every day. See if you can get your husband to help or so as the previous poster suggested and try to come up with easier meals that require less interaction on your part.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
