I have religiously been working out 5 to 6 days a week, 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes strength training. Im getting my Protein but I am worried that I am not consuming enough calories. A friend thinks that I have put my body in starvation mode. Please help any input and advice is greatly appreciated.

Are you following your surgeon and/or NUT's eating plan?

I suggest keeping a spreadsheet that does an auto sum to make sure you're getting enough Protein and fluids. Not getting enough can slow things down. Having said that, losing 30 lbs. since December sounds like you're doing great!

I know I'm not getting enough calories and it's definitely limiting my ability to work out. I've tried coming up with ways of adding in more calories. I added a morning snack (cheese stick) and I added some granola to my afternoon greek yogurt (the last thing I eat before I workout after work) and that seems to be enough to allow me to exercise some, but I really want to be able to increase my cardio intensity. I think I will just have to wait until I am able to physically ingest more food!

Im eating around 900 calories a day but I burn about 400 at the gym. My energy level has been great and I am losing inches but the scale is not moving =(

I used MFP religiously to log everything during my loss phase, (mostly to make sure I was getting enough protein). I worked my calories up to 1000-1200 per day, (it was a struggle) with about 80g of Protein. I still supplement Protein in maintenance and probably always will. I was burning 500-600 5 days per week in exercise. You DO need to feed your still healing body! Follow your team's instructions on how much. It DOES take a while to get back to full energy and "real food" will help a lot as far as maintaining a normal energy level.

I also had surgery 12/16. Since my surgery date I have lost 24 pounds. Not sure why you are thinking you should have lost more at this point...

As long as I know I'm following my dr/nutritionists plan, then I don't worry about the numbers. Btw, if it helps I consume between 700-800 calories per day, get between 60-70g of Protein, and exercise for 45-60 min. a day.

Losing weight is 95% diet and 5% excercise. Your only out 6 weeks give your body 5 or 6 months to heal and stick to the diet plan. The weight WILL come off. Exercise will come. At 7 months out I found by accident that I could run a couple miles with relitive ease. Now I run everyonther day and have my first 1/2 marathon scheduled.

I had my surgery on the same date as you.. Talked to my nut last week and she told me that I should be around 800 calories a day, 80 carbs or less, but as others have said, go with what your nut says..

This early on, it is still a learning process. It takes time! NONE of us put this weight on overnight, and NONE of us will lose it overnight either!

Try to look at a loss as just that.. a loss.. you aren't gaining. That means you are still going in the right direction!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
