Today was my first day at work after being off 4 wks from surgery/recovery. Everyone gave me such compliments, telling me that I looked good and I look healthy, etc, etc.

This morning I went to put on a pair of pants for work. (I have been in tshirts and sweats for the past 4 wks)...the pants fell off of me. Not even a belt would have helped because they looked like parachute pants. So I managed to find something and rolled up the waist line and hide it with a long blouse.

Here is my rant- I went to Ross to try to find some pants or dresses. First I didn't find pants that were good for work. Then I hit the dresses. I could not figure out what size I was. I assume I was 22w. With a close to 40lb weight loss, you would think I would have dropped a few sizes. But noooooooooooooooo, only one. I tried on a dress in 20w, 18w, heck I even went for the 1x instead of 2x. The only one that fit was 20w. :(

So only one dress size down.

As I was trying the dresses, I looked at myself in the mirror. I almost broke in tears. I still see lumps and I still see my humongous thighs. :(

I was so unhappy. I just ended up getting that one dress and drove home in a pout. I hope that this is not it. I hope that it continues to go down, because I would really like to get the heck out of the plus size racks.

Feeling like a failure ........this was my bipolar rant. It was a good and bad day.

If it makes you feel better at all, it does get better. I remember having a little meltdown when I was down about 70 pounds because while I fit into a size 8/10, I looked bad. I had a poochy stomach and fat knees and my arms didn't look good. Granted, I was 170 pounds at the time, which on a girl as short as I am just isn't hot, but I thought I had worked SO hard and lost SO much and I was still a big fatty. So, I used that sadness and I worked even harder. Now most days I look in the mirror at least when I'm wearing clothing and I think...hey girl, you're lookin good! Of course, then I look in the mirror naked and I am not happy at all, but hey, you take what you can get.

Moral of my story, you're only a month out- give it some time. As long as things don't stay the same and you don't gain weight, you're only going to look better. Time passes no matter what you do, at least now you know you are spending that time working toward being the size you want to be. :)

@@Pac-woman my average is 3.57 lbs a week. I don't weigh every week so I'm not sure the exact. If I've had a stall I don't know it. I try to stay away from the scale. All I know is I'm 2 lbs away from 50 and it's been 3 months. So see your doing good! I was a size 18+ now I'm a 12/14 I'm also taller than you according to your measurements and weighed a little less at the start. Everyone is different but it's only been a month you are just starting out so don't fret!

So uhmmm... You had surgery a month ago.

How long did it take you to 275 pounds? If your expectation is to drop from women's sizes to lady's in a month, you are setting yourself up for failure. Big time.

Breathe in, breathe out. Relax.

My Doctor said should aim for 1kg (2.2lbs) per week weight loss till you hit goal weight. I've not had the op yet. But hope it's all going well for you.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
