My sleeve just cost me more than I ever expected

Recommended Posts

I woke up in the middle of the night in horror that my wedding ring was not on my hand.

I NEVER remove it. So I'm about at goal at 141 and have lost 2 pounds in the past two weeks and it must have come off my fingers too.

I have retraced my weekend steps and left my number with every place I went. I posted on CL and lets just say I'm not holding my breath.

And I'm not stressing over it either. My wonderful husband said .. Well it's been 16 years and we should Renew our vows anyway.

What a man. It means a lot to me because I had it made for me from family jewelry. But I am realistic about getting something like that back.

And just knowing that it slipped off my skinny finger kind of makes me giggle.

Very expensive lesson learned.

I only got sleeved on 12/17/14 and my wedding band had to actually come off last night. I'm down 49 lbs.. I was so fearful of losing it since it was so big, I put on a plain diamond band until either a. I outgrow that. or b. get down to goal and get a new band (our bands are titanium and can't be resized)!!

good luck and I hope it makes its way back to you!

DId you look all in and under your bed? Maybe it slipped off while you were asleep. At any rate, congratulations on your weight loss and on your wonderful husband!

I found things pulled off my fingers or arm (lost bracelet!) in jackets - sorry you lost something special, but how lovely a response from your beloved!

Ring guards? ::google google:: Hey, ring guards exist!

I had never heard of this product, but just searched Amazon on your recommendation. I am a few days from needing to remove my wedding ring or risk losing it (@@Zane's Mom, soooo sorry for your lost ring!), and now I don't have to. Hooray! Thanks for the tip, @@Cupcake!

I'm so sorry you lost your ring.

I haven't worn my set for over a decade. Fingers too fat. Now that it fits, I want to wear it because it's the only real jewelry I own, but I filed for divorce. Gotta laugh at the irony. I hope you find it. Check coat pockets and the seats and floor of your car. Mittens, etc.

Ha, you are not the only one. Well, I have not had my surgery yet and we are already separated, but I feel the same way about my rings. I may decide to have them made into something else eventually.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
