Pasta Anyone?

Recommended Posts

When I had the band, I never had a problem with Pasta. During the successful phase, I would make a large pasta dish, put it in 1 cup containers and freeze them. I treated myself to 1 per week. I'm still in the liquid phase now but would like to continue this down the road. I'm curious as to how others have been doing with the revision if they can tolerate pasta

1 cup of a Pasta dish is way too much in my opinion until you are at least a year out. Early months you should be in the quarter to half cup range.

I can eat Pasta as I am like the majority that have no food restrictions after the first few months post sleeve.

@@CowgirlJane,

I love the advice you have been giving people. You are a true success story with the revision and I hope that I can be as successful as you are

Thank you. The truth is even 3 years out I would never eat a cup of Pasta but I am trying hard to not be the carb nazi as I have been accused. Your total volume even years down the road is about a cup or so.

I might have a few little noodles along with the meatballs - but in general - I don't eat Pasta as it doesn't give me long term satiety.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
