M_Johnson 43 Posted June 12, 2015 I am in the process of going from sleeve to bypass due to GERD. The reflux is so bad. I have some pre op testing to do but I am on 5 different medications more then once daily for this reflux and now it's making me throw up. Love my sleeve but I hate the reflux. I am so happy to see there are others going through it. I am more nervous about this surgery then the sleeve. I am afraid I will chicken out. Ugh.
zumbapink 13 Posted June 12, 2015 Yes a week out no heartburn sore but able to walk 1.5 miles a day
India928 81 Posted June 15, 2015 Suusje - you mentioned that losing weight will be slower this time around. Do you happen to know why that is? And, is it slower for all sleeve to bypass conversions? That's a bit disappointing and makes me sad!
Band07 374 Posted June 15, 2015 Weight loss is always slower for revisions (except for some of the band to sleeve patients) because your body is already used to calorie restrictions and high Protein. You don't get the initial shock to your body you do with your first procedure. I'm on my 3rd, it's very slow !! 24lbs In almost 8 weeks. Of coarse how much you have to lose also makes a difference. Typically revisions have less than virgin patients but not always.

Band07 374 Posted June 15, 2015 you're on your 3rd surgery? did you have any issues with insurance? Yes, I had the issue of not having it lol I was self pay for all 3. Lapband then sleeve and now mini bypass.
India928 81 Posted June 15, 2015 Oh how frustrating to hear! I was so hoping to have the effects of a rapid ice melt initially. I feel like crying! I should have just had the bypass from the start and I probably wouldn't be here for the third. I was just so afraid of the finality of the procedure so I opted for the shortcuts....the lap band (a total waste) then the sleeve, great but I still ate carbs and sugar and now, I'm right back where I was to begin with ten years ago.
