Strange question, I know, but did they insert a catheter during surgery? I had them when they did my c-sections and I hated them.

Yes. I actually didn't mind since I didn't need to worry about making it to the bathroom "in time". I wasn't moving very fast and I have an old lady bladder ????

My surgeon didn't use one for me. When I asked why, he said as long as I went to bathroom right beforehand then I would be fine since the surgery itself is so short! I didn't feel the need to go for several hours afterwards so it wasn't a problem.

I was given the choice of having a catheter or making the hike from the OR waiting room to the bathroom down the hall. I hitched up my gown and drug the IV bottle down to the restroom.

Must be surgeons preference. I had one and was grateful because my abdominal muscles were so sore, getting off and on the bed was so painful. And with all the Fluid being pumped into you by the IV's, you'll have to go frequently.

I didn't have one, although at the time I really wished I did because they fill you with Fluid, so you literally need to go the bathroom every other hour or so the entire time you're in the hospital. On the flip side though, the surgery is short and risk of infection is high with catheters. I had one during a plastics procedure and I ended up with a UTI that took two different rounds of antibiotics to clear up.

So, if you end up with one, it could be good, but if you don't, it could also be good. :)

Thankfully I did not. I actually woke up in recovery and had to pee from the IV. Not having a catheter was the reason I walked in recovery.

This was one of my biggest worries. Hate to be catheterized. Luckily my dr did not use one. I was up and peeing within 30 mins out of recovery.

No catheter for me either. Woke up when they transferred me to my bed and got up and went potty. The surgery really isn't long at all.

I did not have a catheter either. I expressed my concern about my urgency incontinence and was outfitted with a pad and the spongebob squarepants undies the hospital provided. I was fine with that.

I had one, but only cause I was told to stay in bed due to complications after surgery. Otherwise, I would have never gotten one.

Thanks everyone! I spoke to my surgeon today and he said I probably will not need one. :)))

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
