Thinkingthinner1109 485 Posted February 8, 2015 Just curious what other women about 5'9 goal weight is? Most people do not take height into consideration. If I tell someone what I weigh they seem to judge me. I am 5'9 and weigh 153. My ultimate goal weight is 149.
band2sleeve2014 15 Posted February 8, 2015 I don't have a specific number but my goal is to be in the 160s. I am currently 184 and am also 5'9". I am athletic (ski, hike, run, yoga) and don't want to lose muscle. I am currently a size 12 and hope to be an 8 or at least 10 at goal.
allielee 263 Posted February 8, 2015 I am 5'8" and weigh 167 my goal weight is 164 a normal BMI. I think this is the perfect weight for me. Right now my measurements are 38-30-36 I love the way I look and since I am "busty" feel proportioned. I wear a size 8/10.
ProjectMe 909 Posted February 8, 2015 While this thread gives folks a range of possible goals for tall women, it doesn't take into account body frame and muscle mass. I'm 5'10, my goal weight is 170. I have a large bone structure and also can carry a lot of muscle mass depending on how much exercise/weight lifting I am getting. Anything less than 170 and my ribs begin to show...not sexy. Healthier2day1227 326 Posted February 22, 2015 I reached my goal 165 and size 8. I'm also 5'9. I got as low as 158 after gallbladder surgery but I looked too thin. And when my appetite returned I was able to return to my goal of 165.
Big_Mama 511 Posted February 22, 2015 I'm 5'10", my goal weight is 170. Ironically, I didn't have surgery to be thin, I did it to try to get healthier.

BarnGirlWK 98 Posted February 24, 2015 I am 5'9"ish. I have come up with an initial goal weight of 165 pounds. Not for any particular reason other than to write one down. I am not big-boned (though many 'kind' people have used that excuse for me on my behalf). I am a regular exerciser, but not an athlete. I have people who look at me and cannot believe I still have more than 50 pounds to lose. However, I am aware that 50 pounds will make a difference - and yet may not be enough to have me as 'slim'. I have resigned myself to the fact that I may never be thin. And after being overweight for all of my adult life, I'm perfectly okay with that. I, too, want to be health-risk free. I do not want to be diabetic. I do not want to have high blood pressure. I do not want complications with feet and knees and hips that are the direct result of carrying too much weight. And I want to be happy in the skin I'm in.

But let's not judge whether it's "sexy" or not across the board. Having been judged on our weight/attractiveness in the past let's not do it ourselves. I'm not as tall as y'all (5'6") and I do agree body composition (fat, muscle, bone) has a lot to do with it. My body def chose it's own goal weight! I can't stay above 140 or go below 135 without a lot of effort. I do a lot of exercise (yoga, half marathon last weekend and training for a full in May). 18% body fat and my ribs show. I don't think that makes me not sexy. I'm 5'10", my goal weight is 170. Ironically, I didn't have surgery to be thin, I did it to try to get healthier. Why is that ironic? I would hope that was most everyone's primary goal!
Georgiagirl27 17 Posted February 24, 2015 I'm 5'8 and my goal weight was 138. I currently go back and forth between 133-135. I am trying to maintain. I don't want to lose anymore weight. I am a size 4 or 6 depending on the cut and style of pants .
Big_Mama 511 Posted February 25, 2015 @@jess9395, I say 'ironically enough I didn't do it to be thin, but to be healthier' because others usually assume we WLS patients do it to be skinny.

I specifically said, "Anything less than 170 and MY ribs begin to show...not sexy." In other words I don't believe it is sexy for ribs to show on me. And according to my family and friends...makes me look sickly. Don't see how that statement about ME is judging "Across the board". I also didn't get WLS to get skinny as @@Big_Mama mentioned. I did this to get healthy. So I completely understood and related to her statement and am not sure why you are taking offense to others opinions.
