Aliciad7391 11 Posted February 8, 2015 Hit here, I was just sleeved on February 3. Surgery went really well, and my recovery is also going really well! I was just wondering what people usually do for exercise right after surgery besides walking. I live in Boston and it's really hard to get around outside to exercise in 3-4 feet of snow. So I'm kind of confined to the house. I have a stationary bike at home as well, I'm just not sure whether it's too soon to use it. Any advice is great!! Jenngf5 95 Posted February 8, 2015 My dr said bike n walking as I feel up to it. I go to the local gym (buffalo here so I'm not walking outside either). I waited a week and 1/2 out though when I felt more up to it. Sleeved 1/19) My dr also said no lifting for 6-8 weeks. I see a lot of folks do Water exercise. My gym unfortunately doesn't have a pool. Good luck and welcome.
joatsaint 2,814 Posted February 8, 2015 My doc told me to start walking 1 hr a day, from the 1st day out of the hospital. I had my surgery on a cold wet wintry December and had to pace from room to room to get in my exercise. Of course I didn't get in a whole hour of walking per day, but I did what I could till I got back to work 2 weeks later. Then I started walking the interior perimeter of my office when on breaks or at lunch.< /p>
suitechicguy 105 Posted February 10, 2015 There are some walking DVDs where you can get your walks in right in your living room if the weather is bad right now for outside walking. I think the name od the womam that makes them is Leslie Sansone.
lslblues 45 Posted February 10, 2015 (edited) My doc cleared me for stationary biking as soon as soon as I felt good enough. I've ridden every day since day 5 after surgery. And of course start out easy... Edited February 10, 2015 by lslblues
