I'm 5 days post op and I'm hitting the "regret" phase. I know everyone goes through it and it usually goes away. I was doing so good yesterday and today I can't even drink enough without feeling full. I'm so depressed. I knew this would happen and I have hope but this really sucks. Words of encouragement would be great. Thanks

It's all about time! The first few weeks are full of trying to figure out when to eat, then drink, what to eat, when to take Vitamins, etc. I promise it all gets better, you figure it all out, and you realize all the wonderful changes that take place in your weight and your life! This will pass and you will be very happy as you see and feel the results! Just hang in there!!

This to will pass. I was feeling the same way at first. It's perfectly normal. As you continue to recover, you will get in more liquids and Protein and feel better. Slowly every day it does get better. I even started exercising this past week (bike and walking) and that seemed to make me feel better too (never would have said that before)

I'm almost three weeks out and my biggest fear is going back to work Monday and figuring out what I can bring to eat/drink all day. Hoping my coworkers don't Celebrate my return with food I physically can't and shouldn't eat.

Good luck and look at the end goal. Try searching for pics on this forum. It's inspiring.

Think ahead a about how great your going to feel. Get out of your own head. Find something to do. A crossword, tv , knitting go for a walk even if it's just a minute to get fresh air. You can do this girl!

I definitely sucks when you are in the moment a few days/weeks out and you are wondering if you will ever feel normal again. I had my share of despair and regret in those early days. All I can tell you is what you already know, it DOES get better. And it actually gets better really fast in the grand scheme of things. Hang in there.

Hi @@Jazmundo

Try to think out things one at a time. I found myself getting overwhelmed trying to get fluids, Protein, walk, and deal with everyday life. I found that if I slowed down and tackled the most important (Water, fluids & rest early on), it was a little bearable. It's a major change, and does a serious head trip on you.

Don't worry so much about the Vitamins, Protein right now. Try drinking room temp, or warm liquids to start. When your comfortable try to incorporate protein. It's difficult in the beginning, I had buyers remorse too, but pretty soon you will be loving the new you even more than the previous you! Nothing says "I've made it", by getting on the scale and seeing you've lost the equivalent of a small human (I lost a 100lb human lol).

Good luck! You can do it!

I know right! I find it hard to do anything else if all I'm doing is thinking about sipping Water. I figure as long as I'm drinking my Protein Shakes and having a popsicle now and then and drinking a bottle of water....That should be fine. I'm still urinating 3x daily

The Protein is the most important - especially now our bodies need it to heal but today - the thought of drinking them is not appealing to me

My Dr. Plan won't let me start pudding or yogurt until 1 week post op. That's when I can start adding Soup and soft foods but only 2 options per day

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
