I am 4 1/2 months out and I am losing my hair badly. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do? I am getting between 80-100 grams of Protein and around 50-60 oz of fluids a day. I don't see my Doctor for another month. I am getting concerned. I am also in a stall. In the last 1-2 months I have only lost 5-10 pounds. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My total weight loss is 59 pounds.

Hey clasnic! I'm in the same boat right now. My hair is falling out like crazy. I told my dr about it and she said it was pretty normal for anyone in the 3-6 month stage. She said our bodies are trying to provide Vitamins and nutrients to the more important parts of the body ( heart, lungs, liver, etc.) before it reaches your hair and scalp. Just a hump, but should be over it soon. I'm 5 months post op. She also recommended me to have blood work done to check my thyroid. So I'm hoping that comes back good. Thyroid issues can also cause quite a bit of Hair loss.< /p>

@@clasnic1, I just went for another followup with my surgeon. I was sleeved on Sept. 26th. He said that, at this stage, he's looking for a loss of 1 lb./week. So it looks as though you're right on track!

As a hair stylist I'm a supporter of Biotin, but I have to step in and clarify biotin does not stop Hair loss. It aids in regrowth. Does wonders for your skin and nails as well. I fully recommend all my clients take it but want them to have realistic expectations. When hair hits the loss phase there is no going back. Unfortunately we are experiencing more than normal but it doesn't last forever. Take it in stride and keep up what your doing ????

There's not much you can do to stop the loss at this point. That's due to the trauma and lack of Protein at the time of your surgery. Mine started falling out around the 3.5 month mark. I'm at 5 months now and it's already growing back. I have tons of little baby hairs sprouting up now. If you are taking your Vitamins and getting your protein in, it will start growing back soon, don't worry.

I am just under 5 months and my Hair loss is bad now. My dermatologist says I've lost about half of it. But veterans say it gets better so I'm hoping that's true. If not, well, wig store here I come.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
