April 6th sleever!

Recommended Posts

I booked my flight! I fly down to San Diego on April 5th to check in and get all my pre-op testing done, and then I have my surgery on April 6th. I'm heading down to Tijuana for my surgery, by Dr. Ariel Ortiz. One of my friends from nursing school is going to come to Mexico with me as my support person. She had her VSG done by Dr. Ortiz, and speaks very highly of him and his facility. Being able to bombard her with questions since she's been through all this at the same center has been such a blessing for me. I'm really excited, I can't wait for my new life to start!

Hi!

I also hope to be sleeved on April 6th!

I will be having my surgery done locally. I have heard some great success stories from Mexico. It must be extra daunting to do all the research. That is great to have your friend with you for support!

How is everyone else doing?

April 6th sleever here! I'm doing amazingly well. I returned to work yesterday and I have my post-op appointment today. Very little pain, and just a little bit of gas pains occasionally. I do try to walk everyday (hoping to get to the gym starting next week). I'm still on liquids, so I have managed to get my 64 oz in the past few days. Ready to move on to Protein shakes! Congratulations to the rest of you!

Hi! April 6th sleever also. Every day I seem to improve but still cannot meet the Water or Protein goals. Going to work tomorrow for a couple hours and hope I can maintain.

I was able to get in my Water and Protein goals once I started back to work on April 13. I was on a schedule, and it made it a lot easier. Good luck!

Went back to work yesterday. It was strange feeling so run down at the end of my shift, but I'm assuming that's due to still have 3 days left on liquids, I'm hoping I get my some stamina back once I start on purees/mushies and can start exercising a little bit. Overall, I'm feeling great though! Still have to make a conscious effort to get all my fluids in, but between my Protein shakes and Isopures I'm getting my Protein in!

Just wondering how everyone is doing now...I'm slowing down in my WL but I can eat more comfortably now and the nausea has gone since I cut out my Iron pill (Dr. approved).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
