I'm sure you're home by now, but the only time I felt pain, was on a bumpy gravel surface. It really shouldn't be that bad! Sorry if I'm late, but I've been so tired!!!

I was sleeved on 2/4. I live in Massachusetts. My surgery was revision surgery. Had lapband removed after 6 years and now have the sleeve.

I am a revision as well. I was banded in 2002. I kept it off for 8 years, then started having issues with band: band slippage x2; tube detachment; port leakage...after 4 surgeries to repair the band, itself, and 2 hiatal hernia repairs, my doc said we couldn't use the band anymore. To make a long story short, I gained 40 lbs. in 4 years! Not good!!! Therefore, the sleeve, or Sleevie Plunder, as I affectionately call him.

I got sleeved on 2/3. I am having a hard time getting all my Protein in.

I feel bad for saying this. Probably shouldn't. But I've been drinking Protein shakes. Well, shakes is stretching it a bit, because they aren't thick. I just can't imagine getting ANY Protein in without it.

I go to see the NUT and NP tomorrow and they might give me hell. BUT... I feel great! liquid doesn't stretch the stomach! My gas has dissipated as of the morning! On a positive note, I GET TO WEIGH FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!!

I'll let you know how it goes! Keep me informed on your progress! Good luck to all of us!!!

Because, I am traveling 3 hours and was wondering how was the travel.

I had the sleeve on 2/2/15. I was not getting the Protein in the first week as I was on clear liquid. They didn't expect me to get it right away. Today I started on full liquid so had a Protein shake with 30 grams of Protein. So almost halfway to my daily goal of 62.

I love the Premier Protein shakes because they have 30 grams each. I will say my first day home from the hospital since it was Water only I felt like crap. The day after I was allowed to start the Protein Shakes and wow!! I felt SO much better. I've been drinking them on & off the past 6 years with the band- especially when it was too tight and plan on drinking 1 for Breakfast every day when I return to work. On my days off I'll try other foods

I had my sleeve on 2/2. Was doing a partial liquid diet from 1/1 until 2 weeks out, when I switched to full liquid. Not having the easiest of times getting all the Protein in, but so far, I am down 55 lbs!

That's a crazy long time, but congrats on the 55 lbs!!! I was on clear liquid the day before surgery & NPO after midnight! All these doctors are so different, but I'm soooo glad mine does the abbreviated version!!!

Drink Protein shakes for your Protein. I use GNC Total Lean & Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Rocky Road, which I order on Amazon. I get vanilla Bean from GNC & add different flavors: instant coffee, Sweetleaf flavors, etc. I usually get around 48mg/day with the shakes.< /span>

Good luck to you!

I was sleeved 02/02. The surgery went great and the recovery is awesome and painless. Although I can't drink more than 20oz of Water a day and I can't handle anything heavier. I have severe inflammation in my sleeve and I'm currently getting iv fluids. They say it's too early to stretch it so my next option is a feeding tube... Sucky!!!

Jazmundo- out of curiosity do you know what size bougie your doctor used? Mine used a 40. I also go a few steroid injections during my inpatient stay to keep down inflammation. Sorry you are struggling.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
