mushrat 1 Posted February 6, 2015 Hey there! I am new to this forum but not new to the WLS community as I had gastric-banding surgery in 2006 which had to be removed earlier this year due to slippage and erosion. I have decided, like so many ex-banders, to be sleeved! My suregery date in 2.23 and I am working to do all the neccessary prep work now. I have read pretty extensively about this procedure and have noticed many post-op posts that state gas is a problem. I am curios what people have taken that has provided the best relief; I know that everyone is different and I might not have this problem but want to prepared. I start my pre-op diet on Monday...excited and sorta dredding this part but I have been through it before. It's only a short bit of time in this long journey...right?!?! Thanks! BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted February 6, 2015 I didn't have any issues with gas. I did begin to have a slight issue with acid around 6 weeks but my doctor increased my omeprazole to 40mgs & that seems to have resolved things
LipstickLady 25,682 Posted February 6, 2015 If you are talking about the gas that comes from the surgery itself, it's in your body cavity, it is not the kind of gas that is caused by food. GasX is popular, but the only thing that really works is walking it out.Gas from food post op? GasX fo'shizzle.
mushrat 1 Posted February 9, 2015 Thanks for the replies! I will look for gasx strips as they seem to be the most recommended. I had the gas pain in my shoulders after my lap-band several years ago, so very familiar with walking that pain out :-). Thanks again!
