JamieLogical 8,727 Posted February 6, 2015 Call your doctor. I prefer prescription strength omeprazole 40mgs I was on prescription strength for 2 months post-op and then went down to the 20mg over-the-counter dosage.
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted February 6, 2015 I started at 20 mgs and didn't really need it until I started adding regular food back in. Then I found that 20 mgs wasn't cutting it. I started taking them 2 x's a day and would also use tums chewables. When I talked to the doctor he increased it to 40mgs. That seems to be working. My doctor does a 90 day course post op. When he increased it to 40mgs we decided to do another 90 day course.
Peace Love & Sleeve 27 Posted February 7, 2015 I've been having to sleep sitting up or literally acid and bile will wake me up. I went to pharmacy and bought Zantac. I'm praying this works
NewLife4Jen 28 Posted February 9, 2015 I am 4 days out. I was prescribed omeprazole 30mg. which I take daily by opening the capsule and letting the beads go to the back of my throat. I then drink a sip of Water and they go down. However, I have also been having trouble with gas and gurgling. What I have found over-the-counter that has helped is Papaya pineapple Enzymes from Trader Joe's. I was told about these after my lapband surgery and they work wonders! They are a God send! I also have taken Gas-x and snipped it open and put the med in a small 1oz. cup of Water. This has also helped. I also use a heating pad. However walking is the best! Hope this may help..... LSF 264 Posted February 9, 2015 Does anyone know why we are getting this? During surgery they are repairing hernias etc.. So I'm surprised that I'm getting the reflux
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted February 9, 2015 @ - I was told because you are making the same amount of acid in a much smaller space
