Got banded in Springfield MO??

Recommended Posts

Hey! Yes, I am alive and ticking. Thanks for your concern.

I haven't been online much....back to work, tending to my 89 yr old Mom, several physician appointments for me, etc, etc.......you know how it is.....life gets in the way.

Had my first fill last week. 3.6cc. Had one experience of restriction but otherwise, all is the same. I'm calling tomorrow to ask for another fill appt.

Looking forward to finding my sweet spot someday..........how about you, Sharon? How are things in KC?

Hi everyone....

Great to hear from all of you.

UN5-3051...long time no post... yes to the symposium question. I have been going through so much lately, the Symposium sounded like a day just for me! I sure did need a day just for me. Will you be there as well? I had to deal with DH getting surgery for a kidney stone last Sat. and Mazie's Birthday and her Party are all this week- But, "Heck or high water"-I am going! Great to hear from you...let me know if I may run it to you there Sat.

2bthinagn.... The sweet spot will come... I am so close to my sweet spot, I can feel it... My restriction changes so much throughout the month, I am afraid even a little fill will be perfect some times and over the top at other times. I think if I can drop 20# more ..then I will get another fill. That will put me at -100#... Hoping that will be by the new year.

The whole day there.... that was because I needed out and away from my house/family for the whole day!!! lol Some parts were really worth it...some were kinda' boring!

Bad_Sheepy....I heard from an aquaintance that you are familiar with... her name is Debbie....I visit with her online all the time. Do you know who I'm refering to? I would have loved to have met you at the symposium!

Anyone gotten a fill lately? how far out are they booking appointments now? Maybe I should call now, if I want a fill just before Christmas?????(or just after new years??? lol, this is the old me talking hehehehe)

Debbie - yes! She was my Angel! :))

I have talked to her a few times on the phone but haven't got to meet her yet.

I wish I could have met you too!

And I am having my 1st fill on Nov. 1st :-)

Hope it helps - I have like NO restriction now.

Hi all! It's been a while since I have been on, but I'm glad to see everyone is still here! ;)

It took a month for me to be able to get another fill appointment - November 15th! My first fill really gave no noticable restriction. Although sometimes I think I feel something.

Jill - Today is fill day for you! I can't wait to hear how it goes. Keep us posted!

Yes, please do let us know how that first fill is for you. And great to hear you two are heading for your second fills! It took 3 for me to really REALLY feel it, but maybe the 2nd one will be lucky for you. I've heard of some people never even needing a fill. Wouldn't that be great?!

I just went through a birthday weekend with our daughter (celebrating her B I G 3 0) and we're heading out for a music festival in Starkville, Mississippi in a couple of hours. Since I didn't gain on the bday weekend (I lost even!), I know I can make it through this one, too. We'll be walking and standing a lot, so that should help.

Be sure to let us know how your fills go. :-)

Hey guys, I was banded on Sept 17 at Dr. Edwards. Everything is going pretty good. First fill was on the 1st of November. Not really much restriction. Got 3cc's. Probably gonna call in and get setup for another fill ASAP so I can get some restriction going.

When does the support group meet again? And at what time? I'd like to go to the next one.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
