✂️How many sleevers have had their gall bladder removed?

Recommended Posts

Lol... Funny symbol!

Outta curiousty, how many sleevers have had their gallbladder removed?

I m considering not only getting the sleeve, but to ask the surgeon to remove the gallbladder.

Reason: When you have drastic weight loss the gallbladder tends to grown stones in it, causes lots of pain and indigestion problems.

If I have to get it removed, might as well get it done now once and for all.

What do my fellow sleevers think?

I had my gallbladder removed years before my sleeve. I had dieted and lost 110 pounds and bam! there went my gallbladder. So, now that I have my sleeve, that's one thing I don't have to worry about. :)

Your doctor will do that? I asked my doctor to go ahead and remove mine but he refused. I figure why not do it when I'm under for the sleeve...now I have maybe another operation down the road to worry about??!!?? :)

I had my 6 month stomach ultrasound and they found gallstones. I have had a couple attacks and now wait for surgery in Canada. I have tried to adopt a lower fat and low carb diet so I don't have to deal with any pain. So far so good. They said it will be 3-6 month wait for the surgery.

I am down 80 pounds since May 2014. My Dr thinks I should have done more but I am very happy though I do feel stuck a little. New goal to be under 200 by April 1 and 100 bounds by May 1. I must admit that I don't exercise consistently and do graze a bit. I am very happy with my sleeve. Also I am beginning to get a lot of loose skin - especially at the top of my legs but my stomach is coming down and my arms.

I had really bad gallatones before surgery. I had to have a gallbladder removal surgery before the sleeve. My doctor said its not practice to remove the gallbladder and do the sleeve at the same time because it increases the risk of infection. So I had the gallbladder removed then the sleeve.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
