Unjury Chicken Broth

Recommended Posts

I am on my pre-op diet. Low carb/high Protein. My NUT suggested trying out different protein powders, to see if I like any of them. So I just tried the Unjury chicken broth, holy s**t!! It tastes like Top Ramen! It was delicious, and packed with 21 grams of protein! Delicious!

Great! I bought a sample of Unjury chicken flavor, & I was a little skeptic about how it tastes, & if I should mix it with food? Thanks for your review! I'll have to give it a try by itself! :-)

Just tried it for myself today, I thought it was very good!. Ordered 10 packets to have as a change of pace, along with 6 containers of Protein powder, 2 choc, 1 vanilla 1 strawberry and 2 unflavored (going to try adding a bit to other foods and broths) I also tried the chocolate supreme today and while it was deeeelicious, it was a bit too sweet for me so I was thinking I could use 2/3 of a flavor and 1/3 of unflavored for my shakes..

I have some unflavored, and choc splendor samples. I will try choc tomorrow. I can definitely see how the chicken flavor would make it feel like you had a meal. I read that you want to make sure the Water isn't too hot. I used my keurig, 6oz keurig water, and 2oz cold water. It mixed up great.

Unjury Chcocolate Splendor is darned tasty also! :) I will definitely be purchasing these. I made some Crystal Light Lemonade ice cubes, with unflavored Protein Powder, they aren't too bad.

I am able to purchase it at my surgical center, cheaper than the website. I am not sure if there are retailers that sell it.

I am preop, but I just bought an unjury sample pack earlier this week and tried the unflavored in cold crystal light and the strawberry blended with ice. Both turned my stomach and went mostly down the drain. :(

I had such high hopes, especially for the unflavored! I still have packets of the chocolate, vanilla and chicken to try and I hope they go down better than the two I tried so far! I have another unflavored that I plan to mix with a savory food (Soup or a sauce), and I'm hoping that'll go better. So far the only Protein I actually like is premier, but those are pricey and I'm sure I'll want some variety when I'm officially on liquids!

chicken Soup was really good. I put unflavored in crystal light, and froze it in an ice cube tray, I haven't had any yet. A friend told me to crush it and chew it during the liquid phase, it helps with the urge to chew. My NUT gave me some little recipes to spruce up Protein Shakes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
