Are you serious? I've been trying to get my doctor to work with me in getting me the gastric sleeve at UW. And they keep emailing me either saying amerigroup won't cover it or it's not medically necessary. I have the right bmi to have surgery and have pcos. So in my mind I think they didn't actually call. I really want to switch doctors so bad. I've been trying to get the sleeve and been getting knocked down each time. I wish I could send you the screen shots from my doctors office. My only hope is probably save and go to Mexico....

I am feeling the same way. Maybe we will meet in Mexico. did I say that?

I have pcos, and I take metformin, I dont have any of the co morbidities, but my bmi is a 43. I am not exactly sure why I was approved for stage 2, if it was because i have a bmi over 40 and been over weight for a long period of time and had attempted and failed so many times or what. I think your doc is just being lazy. You could drive over to my doctor. Its about an hour and a half drive, but she would do it for you. her name is Dr. Rachel Bickling at Jefferson Healthcare In port Townsend. She is a great doctor. and Jefferson healthcare hospital will pay for the NUT also because medicaid dont cover it.

I live in Tacoma. Honestly I think my doctor doesn't support stuff like that, maybe that's why she's acting like that. I've been trying and trying. I'm 24 years old and I just want to live my life finally, it sucks.. Good luck tomorrow I hope it goes smoothly.

To be honest I don't think this surgery is covered buy that type of insurance that was the first thing that they said in my seminar.

How's everything? Did you get your surgery?

Sent from my N9518 using the BariatricPal App

iI go for my Appt with the Surg. on Dec. 7th. They submit the papers at that time for my final submission for surgery approval. And at that time I also start my 1,000 low cal liver shrink diet for 3 wks. Surgery would be scheduled. within 4-5 weeks later. So around January. Perfect start to A New Year.

How are you doing? Hope all is going well for you?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
