I have found a nifty source of protein! They're called Protein Shots by Probalance. Each of them have 28g of Protein in a 3oz fruity drink. Does it taste great - NO! But 3oz? that's like 4 swallows and you've got half a day of protein.

I checked with my nutritionist and she tells me it's fine as long as I'm getting protein from food, too. It's just a great boost to be able to get so much in one place without filling up my tiny stomach.

I got mine at CVS.

I know the idea of "tiny" or a few ounces or a "shot" sounds beneficial, especially from the Protein angle.......but.....when it comes to liquids, less is really not a benefit. Along with Protein, you also need to get in a significant amount of fluids daily. The norm is at least 8 glasses or 64 ounces. So while there is no real set in stone method....when it comes to liquids......more is better.....even when mixed with protein. ;)

Added note: make sure to pay attention to the sugars and calories in those high Protein Shots.

No sugar, no calories. And I would much rather drink Water than those nasty-ass Protein shakes. I've had so many I never want to see them again. I haven't had any trouble with fluids at all, fortunately. I've always been a serious Water drinker. It was just those awful shakes. I've tried so many... and couldn't find one that didn't make me want to hurl!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
