peacharoni 0 Posted February 4, 2015 I was sleeved on 1/29/15 . And I've felt from post op day one that liquid and now today I started puréed all feel as though they are getting briefly stuck at the bottom of my esophagus. My Dr. Told me I had a mild hiatal hernia when he scoped me three days prior to surgery but never mentioned repairing it during surgery. I know these are questions I should be asking him. But I'm also thinking maybe it's just edema or maybe this is something that will pass. I honestly am questioning myself now. One plus is I'm not nauseous, or in pain and I've only dry heaved twice so...yay me!
mzknight3 2 Posted February 4, 2015 Hey, my md fixed my hernia during surgery. I was sleeved on 1/15/15. I had to stay on liquids 2 weeks after surgery but I guess each md is different. I have been on pureed foods for 1 week now. When in doubt call your md. Good luck
mae7365 372 Posted February 4, 2015 I have a sleeve and my doctor repaired a hiatal hernia as well. For the first 8-10 weeks, I had the "stuck" feeling. In fact, for the first 10 weeks, I usually vomited when I got the stuck feeling. At my one month visit, my doctor told me not to worry about it.......my insides were still swollen, some people suffered from nausea/vomiting for up to 2 months post op and he promised me that he never had a sleeve patient die of starvation. The biggest issue is getting fluids in. I was never able to get the 64 ounces they recommended after surgery, but I'd get at least 48 ounce. I've been GREAT for the last two weeks (12 weeks post op today), so I'm going to assume I've finally healed inside and the swelling if finally gone.
peacharoni 0 Posted February 4, 2015 Thanks I was told during my barium swallow test the next day that I did have some regurgitation probably due to swelling. So I'm glad to hear that someone else experienced this stuck feeling as I'm experiencing when I drink or eat. I'm just kind of questioning everything when it comes to eating now. I'm so aware of every single bite or sip that enters my mouth that I think I'm over thinking things.
