Good luck to everyone having surgery today. I'm on day 3 of my pre-op diet. Everything is going well. When I'm hungry, I drink Water and the hunger goes away. I'm afraid I'm not losing weight like I should be. Is it too early to tell? Maybe I'm being unreasonable?

I don't even own a scale right now, disappeared in the move. I don't want to stress it, we'll just let dr tell me my preop loss.

At my pre-op they told me to bath in antibacterial the day of the surgery. She said it was to make my skin as clean as possible. The no perfumes or lotions is because they will be sticking a lot of those monitor pads on your skin. She didn't mention that I couldn't wash my hair or put on deodorant or even face cream. They did say no eye makeup. So, we get to go in all super clean with no makeup on...

They told me yesterday to bathe in dial soap up to two days before surgery and the morning of. She said no perfumes and stuff. My question is this. Does that mean deodorant, face cream, Shampoo, and chipped toe nail polish? She talked fast lol

Well day three of the pre-op diet completed and my pre-op tests were completed yesterday so I'm on the way to a new journey. I will say that yesterday I had a bit of a reality scare when my pre-op chest x-Ray and follow up CT scan showed a small lung nodule. Never heard of this before...so now what? Well the surgeons office called today to say that it's nothing to be worried about, the doctor looked at it and said its very small and it will be followed thru CT scans every six months. Never have been a smoker so I guess that's a good thing as far as risk goes and is most likely scar tissue from an infection. Well anyway surgery for next Thursday is still on schedule but I must say I don't think I will experience the pre-op gitters or complain about the liquid diet after knowing the outcome of yesterday's tests could have been different! So cheers to shakes and good health

I'm on my 3rd day of my pre Op diet. My sleeve will be done on the 30th of March. The liquid diet is going well, it's just seems like time is moving slow. Excited and scared, worried about gas pains after its done. Good luck with everyone being sleeved in March. Is anyone else being sleeved the 30th ?

@@LaLa Lady, I did my pre-op assessment yesterday and all I had done was blood work. It was weird. I didn't have to do a EKG or any other scan. I hear of so many people getting these thorough pre-op exams and I got only a questionnaire and blood work. Should I be worried?

March 30th here. Day 3 of preop diet. Going to the gym helps - too tired to eat.

@@purrfctangel, I'm March 30th too. It's been a little hard. I have not cheated on this liquid diet and I haven't been around food to be tempted. I stay in my office all day. When I get home, I take care of my baby and then go to sleep. I'm very tired too, but I have been going to my Zumba classes. I think it will be challenging on the weekend when everyone is home and they're going to be eating :(

@ I am post opt 1 week and 2 days!! I thought I would be in and out. I was there for 2 nights. Honestly I am glad I was. As much as I wanted to be home, it gave me time to get my fluids in, time for them to monitor me, get blood work, and for me to have help walking around.

I had visitors. My best friend and boyfriend were with me the day I had surgery and hung out after. The next day my parents and boyfriend came up to see me and my sister picked me up. It was nice to have people to hang out with that were not poking you with needles.

I actually only took a week off. I went back to work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 1/2 days. If you can take 2 weeks off, I say go for it. The one thing I did not expect was my energy and strength to be so low. It gets better everyday. Good luck to you!

@@MaryC94 I was the same way. All I needed was blood work and a pregnancy test! Depending on people's weight and health conditions they may need additional tests. I wouldn't worry.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
