I'm super excited, scared and anxious. Although I'm waiting for the insurance approval, I got my date of March 30th. I just want to be successful throughout this whole process, pre-op and post-op. I definitely have a challenge ahead of me but I keep giving myself pep talks and saying I will succeed :)

So I have to say I am not nervous about the surgery..at all. What I am nervous about is the liquid diet. For two weeks prior to surgery I am limited to broth, sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles, one Protein Bar a day, and Protein Drinks. My best friend went through this and she was starving. I am not looking forward to this part at all. I feel like this is going to make the two weeks prior just drag on. After my surgery I will be back on the liquid diet for 2 more weeks but I will not be allowed to eat the Protein bar. Anyone else nervous about this?

I'm pretty nervous about the liquid diet part. I will say my surgeon allows Soup, even chunky Soups just not cream based so that is helpful. Today has been my first full day on the diet and not too bad. Some headaches, but I am sure they will subside.

I gotta say this thing just got really real for me. I had my pre-op today. Wow, i thought I was ready but now I'm nervous again. I am hoping the jitters go away soon.

I started my 2 week diet on Sunday. I get nothing but Bariatric Advantage shakes 5 times a day. I have been making grilled chicken for my family so I have had 1 breast over the last 2 days. I feel bad but I have been having the worst heartburn and BAD tummy issues. Let's just say my husband is waiting for the cloud to dissipate as I am writing this. My stomach sounds like there is an alien in it. My head is pounding.. I know it's the low carb-ness kicking in cause I had it when I was doing Atkins but jeeze. I could eat then lol. Gotta keep thinking it's the poison leaving my body. My skin is breaking out too. I'm pretty cranky right now. Drove around town before and was craving McDonald's. I Hate McDonald's! I haven't eaten at mcds in 2 yrs but the little alien is telling me yeah, yeah yeah. Little bastard.

My date is March 4th!!! I'm excited and nervous. I started my 14 day liquid diet today and am doing ok for the most part. I keep having thoughts of backing out and arguing with myself that I don't have to do this but i'm pushing through those thoughts and thinking of all the benefits of having the surgery. I'm so glad there is a site like this to come and talk to others and not be judged...I know i'll make it through this because I have to and most of all WANT to! :)

@@nymetzfan11 you can do this push those thoughts away. I let those same thoughts get the best of me and cancelled my surgery last year along with all the people that was pushing negative thoughts in my head. But in the meantime my health was getting worse. This time around I didnt tell anyone who had negative thoughts, i gravitated to all those who was behind me and pushing me to do better. I hear from everyone that the first week of liquid is a killer STAY STRONG IT WILL GET BETTER.....I MAY NEED YOU TO TELL ME THAT IN 3 WEEKS WHEN I START MINES....

KEEP THINKING OF THE SKINNER YOU AND THE HEALTHIER YOU!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
