Funny you should mention the variety pack. I have never eaten a Quest bar and bought a 12 bar variety pack - it's sitting on my desk. I ran across the free bars deal while researching Quest bar nutrition and preparing to do my video review and taste test of Quest bars.

Thanks. I asked to try the coconut one (along with chocolate Peanut Butter, which is one I eat all the time). They also have a variety pack so you can check out new flavors.

Thanks for posting it. I just requested my free ones. I virtually live on them since I was cleared to eat regular food. Yes they are all the same consistency. I guess my tastes aren't that sophisticated that it bothers me. I especially rely on them if I'm going to be running around all day. They're much better to have on hand then buying something on the run. I'll be taking a trip at the end of the month for training and I'm taking a whole bunch so I don't have to eat out.

Have a good one,

Kathleen

Thank you so much for sharing! I LOVE the chocolate chip cookie dough flavor, but ordered samples in different favors to see if I can find another flavor to love.
If anyone is interested- Groupon has boxes of Quest Protein Bars for $24.99 with free shipping and you can earn cashback (I think 3%?) by shopping through ebates too!

I tried a whole bunch of flavors in the beginning, since I could buy one at a time from my local Vitamin Shoppe. I am completely addicted to the chocolate Chip Cookie Dough flavor. I eat two a a day! I know that's probably bad, but I don't see any way of getting to my 100 grams of Protein per day without them, I have one for Breakfast and one as my evening snack.< /p>

They are seriously almost TOO good. I keep waiting for them to get busted by the FDA for false labeling or something. :P

They are seriously almost TOO good. I keep waiting for them to get busted by the FDA for false labeling or something.

They were sued for false labeling,* and a number of people have questioned the accuracy of their labels for years.

*note - not by the FDA, and of course just because they were sued doesn't mean the complaint is correct! The case settled a couple of months ago due to the new proposed FDA regulations that are supposed to address stuff like net carbs, types of Fiber, etc.

All that said, I've stopped eating Quest bars because they made me hungry. I find that if I get my Protein from meat and Fiber from veggies, I do much better managing my hunger.

Thanks for all of that info! It looks like the main concerns are the calorie content, fiber content, and the fact that they seem to spike blood sugar in some people. I never considered them a good source of fiber, since the type of fiber they use is what I consider to be "fake fiber" or "stealth fiber". Just like you see in all those other "high fiber" products from Cereal to ice cream that use inulin, polydextrose, and maltodextrin to artificially inflate their fiber content.

I haven't had blood sugar issues, so that's not a concern to me either. The main thing I would be concerned about is that lawsuit claimed the calorie content was 20% higher than labeled. If that is true, then I'm getting about 60 more calories per day than I thought, but I don't track calories, so that is not a huge issue either. Now if it were 100% more calories than labeled, I'd be more concerned!

My main worry would be that they don't actually contain as much Protein as advertised and none of the links you posted indicated any evidence of that.

PS: I'm only 5 months post-op, so it may be an issue for me later on, but I am NEVER hungry right now.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
