Doctor on vacation no 6 week check up HELP!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone my name is Melissa and this is my first post new to this site. I'm from New Jersey. I got my surgery on December 22. Before my operation I was at 270 and day of surgery I was at 255. Now 6 weeks out I'm at 222. I feel better then ever but all this being new I wanted to make sure I'm doing everything as planned but my doctor is out and I won't be able to see him till March. How did your 6 week check up go what was involved? I feel like I'm missing out.

I was to be seen at 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year. Blood drawn at the 3 month, 6 month and 1 year mark. If you're not having problems, waiting another month should not be a huge deal. If you ARE having problems, there better be an emergency on call for your Doc's office in an emergency.

I was seen at one week, two weeks, three weeks, six weeks, three months, and will be seen at six months and one year. The first visit that had much of an impact was three months, when they drew blood. The visits before that were just checking weight and blood pressure. After having done them, I can honestly say that missing all of them up to the three month mark wouldn't have mattered since I was doing fine.

I think you will be fine. If you have any questions, concerns, perhaps you could call the nurse. Sounds like you are doing great! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
