How long did it take you to get to your goal weight?

Just curious for my birthday I'll be 7 months post op and am hoping to be a decent size by then. I have about 40-50lbs before I reach first goal (normal bmi is my first goal then I'll see if I want to be smaller)

I hit the weight my doctor set for me at 10 months. I was down to 235lbs. I had lost 130lbs, an average of 13 lbs a month.

I reached my goal weight (140lbs) at 7 months out.

For my first birthday after surgery I learned how to kayak in my gym's swimming pool. What do you have planned for you're birthday?

Depends on how much you have to lose. Also greatly depends on how well you adapt to the new lifestyle.

I'm shooting for 180 down by the one year mark. Ultimately, I hope to make it even lower. May take another 6 months on top of that. We'll see.

I reached my surgeon's goal in 7 months and my personal goal in 8 months. I'm still not ready to call myself in maintenance, however. I want to be a few pounds under my goal since it seems that most people bounce back a few pounds when they adjust their caloric intake upward.

I am 2.5 months post-op and 12 lbs from my surgeon's goal. I'm about 42 lbs from my goal. At my current pace I should reach my surgeon's goal by mid-March and my goal by mid-May or so.

I just found out that Dr. Gazmuri doesn't do the lapband procedure. Only RNY. ARGH!!!!!! I only called him because I saw from another site that someone had gone to him for the lapband. Now I found out that this person put down the wrong surgery by mistake. I want to scream. I found another doctor, but they said it could be a year before I get the surgery. With Dr. Gazmuri I could have my surgery by March, instead of August. I want the band though and my insurance, although they don't have it excluded so far are covering some people after 1-2 appeals. ARGH!!!!!!!! mad.gif

Has anyone gone to Dr. John Kelly in Worcester , Mass?

I started a new job so I'm all over the place and have been gym slacking for almost 2 weeks now. I use to do 6 days but I just need to get back on the horse ya know. And thanks!

I'm almost 7.5 months out and one pound from my original goal of reaching a "normal" BMI. After that, I'm going for 4 more pounds to give myself a small cushion so I won't go "overweight" every time I splurge a little.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
