Sharp Pain while shoveling

Recommended Posts

So, I live in the NorthEast and, like everyone else out here, I was out shoveling. But, there are times when I have to really throw the snow, that I feel sharp pains at my incision points. Keep in mind that I should be all healed since I am one year post-op. What is this about? Is this a pain that I would have had anyway but am sensitive to because of its location? Or is something being pinched in there? Anyone feel this that is quite a ways post-op?

Thanks

I say scar tissue (adhesions)! Ask your doctor just to be sure, though!

shoveling.- sharp pains at my incision points.

none of us are doctors - but you already know that :)

have you ever had pain in that area before??

i have shoveled in the past, and i know heavy lifting is no fun

can get sore during shoveling - or a few hours later, or the next day

if you were one week++ not far after surgery

i would definitely say there is a strong possibility of problems with the incision area

but at one year don't know if that area hurting could be a coincidence

in other words, covering my small assss - i don't know :o

if it makes you feel better, call the doc :)

rather be safe than sorry

i'm sure you lost a lot of weight this past year :)

keep up the good job ;)

sooooo congrats ;)

good luck

Thanks. Yeah,I know, I should ask the doc. I was wondering if physical stress like that was herniating it (if that is a word!). It doesn't hurt any other time, just while really using my core stomach muscles to throw that damn snow!! lol I'm actually fine. If I can get out, I have an appt with the doc anyway to discuss gall bladder surgery. I can ask her then.

I am 21 months post-op from RNY surgery. Last winter was a severe winter for us. It snowed almost every other day. My driveway is 900 feet long and I spent a lot of time clearing it from snow. I took the task in stride and because of my surgery, I had a significant increase in my stamina. I am 66 years old. I remember a little pain but I was using a lot of muscles that I normally don't use. But what I really remember is the cold. I no longer had the padding that I use to have and my fingers and feet were frigid cold. I started to use hand warmers for the first time. They were a life saver.

I hope you have checked this out. Hiatal Hernia is a distinct possibly! I have had scar tissue and hiatal hernias, and the only time my adhesions hurt was when I sneezed!!! It felt like someone was stabbing me with a hot ice pick. On the other hand, my hernias never hurt; never knew I had them. Keep us informed!!!

I shouldn't have used the word "core". It is a small 1/2 inch spot that hurts when I exert myself, like when shoveling, bending over to pick something up, struggling to put on my boots, whatever. It's right in the middle and about 4 inches above my belly button. I did some research and it is possible that it is an incisional hernia. I am not going to call the doctor until next week or so. We have been getting even more snow and work keeps getting canceled, and I just can't guarantee I can get out of here In fact, my appointment that was for last week or so, I had to cancel because I was snowed in. I have rescheduled but after next week may try to get in even sooner. Since this, I have now bought a snow blower so no more heavy shoveling!!

Our schools close with the "possibility" of snow! That whole paragraph was just funny to me. It was 80 here today!!!

Hahahaha

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
