Aleena: Wow, good for you! Have you always done that much exercise or did you start at a certain point? I've been horrible on the exercise front. Every time i go to the gym I get sick and since i have an immune deficiency i get sick for a LONG time. And of course once i stop exercising its hard to get back into a rhythm.

Lulah: I completly know the feeling (sick). How are you doing now?

I started excersising 4 months before surgery, I use to just zumba 3x a week for a hour, then a month after surgery since I was loosing and feeling better I started to do bodycombat and started to workout more. It becomes a addiction, when I don't go to the gym and workout I feel down lol. I have great support here we are a big group of ladies we support each other.

Sorry you feel sick, you should try walking fresh air helps rather than being inside a building exposing yourself or even at home you can do at least 30 mins of excersise, it really helps the weight drops faster when we excersise for at least 30 mins a day or 3x a day at least.

I'm doing great! Yesterday was my one year anniversary and even though I was slightly bummed that I had not reached my goal weight I decided that 70lbs is a big deal to lose in a year! I feel fantastic, the dr just lowered my blood pressure meds (YAY!) I am able to eat pretty much anything I want just in moderation, which is exactly what I had hoped for. :)

I'm brand new. I'm 12 months post-surgery.

I joined this forum because of this very issue. It's bothering the heck out of me. It seems like my capacity is increased AND I get hungrier more often.

Here's the thing: Some years ago, I lost 150 pounds on Atkins without surgery. Without fail, I was ravenous about 2 weeks before my period for a week and my weight loss stalled out or I actually gained weight. By the time my period started, I was back to normal and losing weight. This part is not a real surprise.

HOWEVER, I thought this would have changed with the surgery. It didn't. And I don't know what to do about it. On Atkins, I could safely eat more as long as I kept my carb count down, but now I don't know if I can do that because I'm afraid of stretching out my stomach.

Has anybody found a solution to this yet?

I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one! The only thing that makes me nervous is that this is happening so early on in my journey. I'll be 3 weeks out on Thursday and am supposed to get it the 11th and I'm starving! Whenever I eat I'm fine but I've noticed more so at night I can't get full! Not gonna lie...I've been cheating a little with veggies straws since they basically melt in your mouth...but even with those a half hour later I'm starving again! It's driving me crazy!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
