samuelsmom 670 Posted February 2, 2015 I always had "real food" except for the week before surgery where it was just liquids to help shrink the liver for surgery. Some people have the liquid diet for different amounts of time based on surgeon preference. After surgery you need it while your stomach heals. Other than than, there is no reason or need to have Protein shakes if you can meet your Protein goals with your food intake. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
