Would you go through this for 45 lbs??

Recommended Posts

The thing is, a 45lb weight problem often doesnt remain a 45lb weight problem, its just a pitstop on the road to a really big weight problem.

They'll band people who are BMI 30 in Australia because once you become medically obese, you tend to just get bigger and bigger. Prevention is better than cure and all that. I wish I could have done this when I was only 45lb overweight, I was always going to get as big as I did. I was banded at a BMI of 35 and I'm thankful beyond belief that I didnt have to become morbidly obese to qualify.

Helen -

Losing almost 48 lbs 3.5 months and you are 51 and tall - you gotta be looking pretty good there girl!! - Thanks Great!!!! You gotta remember that we aren't kids anymore and can't lose the weight as fast as we did in our 20's 30's. Plus we have had years to screw up our metabolism. These words come from a 52 yr who is only 5'3 244 so I look like a round beach ball next to you :0) ... Give it time you have only 36 to go you are half way there. As to the Pbing - eat slower, chew more. How do you like all this advised from someone who just had their 1st consulation today :0).

Well my doctor said i was very well informed about this -(i have bee researching for about 2 yrs on these board - GREAT PLACE TO GET INFO & HELP)

As it's been said before, it's a tool not the magic wand that we all are looking for. My best to you

Frankly, most doctors would say you are losing too quickly. The goal is 1-2 pounds a week. More than that and your body can play tricks on you going into starvation mode, lowering your metabolism, etc. If you're in this for the lifetime journey, then you look at hurdles as temporary and find a way around them. Don't assume you are forever stuck at 45 pounds lost.

Every situation is different, every body type and circumstances are different. I have to admit, I was ashamed to post my weight for a while. Afraid people would wonder "why did she get the surgery?" because I didn't have 100 lbs to lose.

During the course of my pre-op testings a few nurses said "your not THAT fat, just go on a diet!"

Anyway I'm 4'11", have been on BP medication for around 9 years, had a stroke 2 years ago at the age of 36. Granted, 70 lbs doesn't sound like a lot of weight to drop but i'm so short it does matter. My weight right now might look like someone elses goal weight but I carry it on a smaller frame.

So to answer the question, yes, if the reasons were right, surgery would seem like an option. My Dr. would not have done the surgery if I didn't have the co-morbities along with a BMI of 41.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
