Super Bowl FAIL

Recommended Posts

So I totally failed at eating today :(

I know I ate way too much. This was pretty much my first time in a big group setting and well I guess I was wondering.... How do you handle these kind of occasions? I am usually really good about measuring my food etc and I guess I'm a little freaked out that I was able to eat A LOT more than I usually allow myself... Has this happened to anyone? I'm freaking out just a little because now that it's done I'm questioning if I ruined my pouch or aided in a slippage lol I know it might sound silly but just being honest

I'm pretty fresh out the gate, so it was easy for me. I brought something I could eat. Drank Water for the first half hour, I then made a plate and say down way faraway from the food and did not get up until the game was over. I think you gotta go in with a plan. Something. Like the teams you know.

YES YES YES!! You must plan for these occasions. If you plan ahead, you can avoid the temptations. Make sure there are things that you can nibble on..even if you have to check with the host prior to the gathering. Better to eat too many carrots and hummus than buffalo wings or chips and dip or whatever else is there.

As far as today...remember it's a new day. Forget about yesterday and just go about your business as usual today and the rest of the week. Don't get on the scale, don't guilt yourself out, just move forward and know that you learned a good lesson for the next time.

Absolutely been there done that! I didn't so well yesterday myself but you know what, it's ok, we can't beat ourselves up over it. It's called life and we need to live it the best we can. The good news? Today's a new day and I'm going to get right back on track. This is the greatest thing about the banded life. We all have days that are less than perfect, but the band is still there for us. Typically if I go somewhere when junk is the primary food group, I will eat something before I go like a Protein bar so that I'm not hungry and can avoid most of the temptations. My problem yesterday was that I was the cook, which should've meant I made the choices which I did by I choosing to make everyone else happy and made wings, dips, sweets etc. My problem was I didn't eat for most of the day because I was so busy which meant when it was time to eat I was starving, a bad combo. Preparation is definitely the key in these situations!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
