Plateau? Help!

Recommended Posts

I am almost 8 months out from sleeve surgery. I am down 103 lbs. I seem to be stalled at this weight for the last three weeks. I go to the gym 4-6 times a week and have a similar food intake as I have had for months. I don't want to get frustrated because I have come a long way but I am frustrated and nervous. Any help is appreciated.

I'm with you. I am just keeping up with my healthy plan. Plateau's have been on and off with the process. I'm also in my eighth month they seem to be harder to break.

Me too! I have only lost about 3 lbs in the last 2 months. It is so much harder when you get closer to your goal weight. Mh trainer said to do a reset. Change your workout up. Add some different things or change the sequence. As far as diet, maybe do a few liquid only days.

So frustrating! I'm there with you. The first 80 seems to fall off (I had a few stalls at around 50 lbs, and then again at 75 lbs. lost) and a friend of mine who teaches Physical Education classes at the college level, suggested that I add a few calories two days a week (not junk calories, healthy calories, which for me meant adding a Protein shake before bed). And that helped break the latest plateau. Next time this happens, I'm going to make sure that my journaling is accurate!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
