Well guys i think we also need to look at the facts we all had or are going to have WEIGHT LOSS surgery so i think that's the main point getting rid of all the other health issues is just a bonus. Again only my opinion though

@@Daisee68, That total started when I first started down the weight loss surgery path in May 2014. I had a six month insurance mandated weight loss requirement. I wasn't losing so I used my surgeon's pre-op diet as the basis for my insurance weight loss. So, basically, I did pre-op for six and a half months. Since surgery on December 10, 2014, I've lost 33 pounds. Not near what a lot of others who had surgery at the same time as I did. I lose 1 pound every 3-4 days. Slow but steady!

I would run to have it. Co morbidities resolving. I'm almost a month out and ice noticed I'm a little tired, but somehow I'm not craving simple sugars and carbohydrates to boost my serotonin levels. My body is just dealing with and managing with out food. Unbelievable!

Nope. I would not have done this if it were not for the weight loss. The clincher for me is that this tool will help me keep it off. I could lose the weight but not keep it off.

Still too new in the game to say, but I don't think I would without the weight loss.

Um, the only reason why I did the surgery was for a health benefit, not a skinny benefit. Losing the 34 pounds helped me be more active, which is really important to me.

Absolutely!! I told my surgeon when we were talking about weight goals that if I ended up at 180 with no diabetes and no worsening neuropathy, I would be happy, and I meant it! If I don't lose another pound at this point since my diabetes is completely under control, I'd be fine with that.

@@carolk36 i think gor someone like me who started at over 300 lbs ya 180 is my final goal lol so yup I'd to wouldd ve happy at 180. But i still wouldn't want to be a healthy 300+ person. Cause let's face it even if you are healthy you're still a little limited at mu starting weight so for me losing weight has a lot to do with it too

I appreciate your honesty LovedxJesus, it would have taken some convincing for me to have the surgery if it was just for health reasons and no weight loss benefit. I would probably have kept saying, "I can do this on my own" and rely on medications. My health has improved so much since surgery so I can now say its wonderful and worth it but I'm looking forward to the continued weight loss also.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
