Protein drink ideas

Recommended Posts

I HATE all the Protein Drinks I've tried and now I'm stuck with several and having trouble getting my Protein in. Does anyone have any ideas of things to add to the shakes to make them better? I am on full liquid. Someone suggested vanilla extract but that didn't help much. I have the unflavored Unjury powder to add to Soup but I really hate the texture. I know I sound picky, but I'm trying ????

I found a really good one at Target in their refrigerated section. The same brand makes smoothies too. I'll get the name for you. I have loved the chocolate flavor. I too struggled with this!

I avoid chocolate at all costs but when I was looking for a Protein I could drink, I tried the chocolate flavor from Premier Protein at costco and it instantly became my Protein Drink of choice. I'm ok with vanilla but I can't stand the strawberry. I'm 2.5 months out from surgery and the only thing chocolate I can stand is my morning premier protein drink. If you haven't tried it, I suggest you do. You can return the unused drinks if you don't like them.

Cellucor whey Protein. I have tried Syntrax Nectar, Premier Protein, Unjury, and Isopure. Cellucor beats the pants off of ALL of them in terms of flavor. It is amazing stuff. I'm picky about Protein Drinks (obviously lol) and Cellucor is all I drink now. Good luck!

@@Kmgaustin are you asking just the people who are still early out, or anyone? I'd be happy to tell you what I eat, but I'm on solids, so I wasn't sure if you wanted to know! Lol

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
