DeyArm 6 Posted February 1, 2015 I am almost three weeks out and i did experience dry heaving and coughing, especially at night. What I found was that it was the percocet causing the issues. Once i stopped taking them, the issues went right away. Haven't coughed or dry heaved since. I hope your symptoms clear up soon.
SandyS 77 Posted February 1, 2015 Oh my... Five weeks post-op and you are throwing up blood? Please call your surgeon immediately. Bright red blood is never a good sign. Are you taking medication to prevent ulcers?
Djmohr 6,965 Posted February 1, 2015 I agree, call your surgeons office immediately. Sometimes coughing up blood in the first few days is normal but I would definitely get checked out immediately! Good luck and get well soon!
rte837 141 Posted February 1, 2015 Coughing up bright red blood post-op from abdominal surgery can be a sign of pulmonary embolism. Do not hesitate or delay; call you surgeon ASAP.
