2nd fill and still no restriction (or so I think, HELP PLEASE!!)

Recommended Posts

Hi there, banded in late Feb 07, first fill in early April of 1.5 (and I think this is ml in Aussie not sure, he just said 1.5). Lost no weight and feel no restriction whatsoever, eat anything, anytime. Went and had another fill today and he said that since I havent lost any he would be a bit aggressive and put in 2ml, which he said is quite alot but not to worry if i had any trouble eating as it would settle down but only to call him if i couldnt drink liqued. WELL, thing is, I get home from fill, drink a bit of Water, yeah and then have tea which my hubby had so thoughtfully cooked and scoffed the lot ;) Mashed potato, carrots, peas and yes, crumbed chicken snitzel. Felt no restriction at all so I am just wondering, am I looking for the amount of food I eat to be restricted or am i looking for the type of food i eat to be restricted??

Some other people having their fill today have only ever had like 1 or 2 and only went back cause the restriction wore off but one lady said that she can't eat hardly anything and lives off chocolate and liqueds. But another lady said that she eats just about anything as long as it isnt fatty as she just spews that back up? I am a bit confused and disappointed at the same time that I may have to go back for another fill YET AGAIN!! It has been nearly 3 months after having my op and i have not lost a single kilo!!:pout::pout::pout:

I've read several people say that their fill didn't kick in for a couple of weeks. I've also read people say they needed 3-4 fills before they hit the sweet spot.

Personally, I'd wait 2 weeks, see how you feel then and get another fill if you're still not feeling restriction.

Hi Jacbro, I was banded first of March and have had 3 fills and never felt any restriction with any of them. I go back in next week for another fill. He put 1cc in each time he did a fill. I have a 10cc band and I have heard it sometimes takes more to get good restriction on the bigger bands. I am so ready to get some good restiction. I ask my doc about a leak and he assured me I didn't have a leak.. good luck

Jacbro,

keep the faith. The great thing about this band is the adjustable part. Just keep getting fills until you hit your "sweet spot". I just got my 3rd fill and OMG... I have restriction! It has drastically cut the amount of food I eat and I am excited about what lies ahead.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
