gained a little more than one year out

Recommended Posts

Well I weighed 140lbs around Nov 11 2014 had surgery Nov 11 2013 now I weigh 165lbs I am now a 33 waist was a 30 waist but maybe a 30 waist for a man 48 years old is not reasonable I think that might have been to ambitious. I would prefer to stay at a 30 waist but maybe its not possible I have thought of exercising but I'm not sure my body will lose weight around the waist. I remember I only ate meat and vegetable now I have carbs with my meals. The surgeon mentioned that after one year I would gain 15% back. I guess he was right. Not sure if I should drive myself crazy over the increased waist size.

I was told that if i was doing fine without carbs to just leave them out, your body misses them but if you don't give in, the craving doesn't start again. I am not saying that that is the reason for the gain but it could be part of it, maybe go back to basics. Protein first veggies next.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
