Did anyone have H-Pylori treatment before surgery and what are the chances of it turning to stomach cancer due to WS surgery, my doctor called and informed me that I had H-Pylori and had to get it treated. I thank God that I am trying to have WS surgery because if I wasn't I would have never known I have H-Pylori

I didn't know I had the h. Pylori until a couple of weeks after the surgery at my first post-op visit. My doctor said it showed up in the biopsy. I was on a antibiotic/PPI = 8 pills a day for two weeks. Thank God that misery is over. This Tuesday I go for a blow test to make sure it has been eradicated. But for the surgery, I would never have known about it.

I just completed my 10 day regimen of antibiotics for h-pylori. I lost 10lbs from all the diarrhea the meds gave me ???? but glad to get it taken care of before surgery. I start my 3 weeks of mandatory classes tomorrow and then I will get a surgery date-hopefully the last week of Feb.

Hello everyone Im new here. I had my PAT visitband upper GI done today and was positive for the H-Pylori. My surgery date is for the 16th but I meet with the surgeon on the 10th to go over test results from today. I believe I will be prescribed treatment tomorrow for this. Its amazing how the process of this procedure reveals health information we would not have known about. My sleep study revealed I now have sleep apnea. And now the upper GI has revealed H Pylori. Good lokk guys on your journey.

I tested positive. I'm on the 8 pill a pack during my 2 week pre-op diet. Apparently it's very common 2/3 of people have it. I'm wondering if my son should get tested?

If it comes back, do we get retested and retreated? That's definitely something I'm asking my dr on Tuesday.

I was told that as part of the pre-surgery labs that I have to get done I will need to get the h pylori test done as well. I was told if it comes up positive, I'll need to take antibiotics to get rid of it prior to surgery. They made it seem that it's not a big deal, so I'm trying not to worry.

My endoscopy also revealed I had Hpylori! I just finished my 14 days antibiotic and will submit stool test next week. Through my sleep

Study found out I had a mild case of sleep apnea which I'm using cpap for. When I did my blood work with PCP found out I was starting point diabetic (6.4) and high blood pressure, If it weren't for the surgery regs, I wouldn't know any of these issues existed. I just thought I had weight issues and a high BMI. I

Guess it's a blessing in disguise...

It will all be much better soon!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
