Hello Everyone - SleevedNFree here....

I had my surgery with Dr. alejandro lopez on Wednesday at VIDA Hospital. All is well. I will send the play-by-play later. I'm in the part of the hospital that is called the Recovery Boutique and this place is absolutely awesome and upscale. I've done well since the surgery - able to get Clear liquids in. First day post-op I was able to taken in about 8 oz of apple juice, 8oz of gatorade, and 8 oz of Water, and 1/2 of chicken broth without vomiting at all. I'm been taken super slow sips and sitting up whenever I do drink anything. I'm heading to the hotel this morning and will have my drain taken out, which has caused me no problems - took a shower yesterday and felt even better.

Congrats to all of you who have been sleeved this week. Speedy and healthy recovery is my prayer for you!

All the best!!!!!

Hi All,

My surgery date is March 4th in Tijuana, Mexico with Dr. Lopez with Specialized Bariatrics. I too have done a great deal of research. Reading about others' experience, watching videos, and attending the seminars offered at the hospitals here in the states has been a huge help.

I started my pre-op today. Although I'm only required to do it for 14 days, I decided to get started early to make sure my body is ready for the procedure. I look forward to hearing from all of you as you prepare for the next step in this "change-for-the-better" journey.

I am having VSG done by Dr. Lopez this Wednesday morning. YIKES! I am going to the Vida hospital. I promise to give you a play by play as soon as I can type. These forums/friends have been a life saver for me and I am ready to be on the other side and help my fellow VSG'ers thru the process.

Did u book with MBC? I did and the. He left the group so after i researched him i have to go with another dr

Hello everyone... I returned home late last night from my life changing experience. My surgery was on Monday March 2 and I am feeling pretty good this morning (getting a good night sleep in my own bed helped). I succumbed to the scale this morning and I am down a nice 4 more pounds since my pre-op weight and a total of 25 pounds since I started my pre-op diet. I am 1/4th my weigh to my goal weight.

@@eileenisbeingsleeved, I went with Dr. alejandro lopez. I had a fantastic experience with Dr. Lopez and his team at VIDA Hospital. It was the red-carpet treatment all the way!!!! So sorry you felt you had to choose a different doctor, not sure why, but his work is spectacular. I can barely see any of the incisions made, able to take in liquids with no vomiting, and no pain. Walking a lot helps too. I wish you all the best with the doctor you chose to go with.

Just scheduled mine for March 6th with Dr Corvala at Hospital Angeles, so excited (and a bit nervous). Anyone having theirs done then and traveling from the southeast maybe we could buddy-up! This site has been very helpful!

How are you doing?

Hey everyone, I just wanted to check in and let everyone know that everything went great! From the beginning to the end everyone at Mexico Bariatric Center was so nice and friendly. Dr. Valenzuela is a great surgeon and so sweet. All the nurses and Drs who took care of me were nice and attentive. I had a great experience, and would do it all over again. I also got to meet Dr. Cabrerra who was really nice and answered my questions. Im down 15 pounds now including pre op and apart from some soreness Im feeling really good!

Hello everyone. I am now posting for the first time because I am scheduled for surgery on 3/27/15. I am looking for others going the same time with A Lighter Me. I am traveling alone from Florida so would like someone to talk with.

I look forward to the surgery with apprehension but excitement for the change that will happen to my life from getting such a useful tool to help with my weight loss.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
