I was graduated to stage 3 diet today (RNY on 1/19) for dinner around 630 I had 1/2 cup mashed potatoes (didn't eat it all, maybe a little less than half) and 1/4 cup applesauce (ate most of it)

I felt like I had a ball in my esophagus for an hour and a half after I ate. At 45 minutes post meal I had a few small sips of Water. Now I have a stomach ache. A legit bellyache like I would have had pre op if I ate too much... What can I do? I'm so uncomfortable.

Gas-x strips aren't working. I have Tums but I think they have real sugar in them (dextrose and sucrose) - 2 tablets have 2g sugars. Will they make me feel worse?

I'm in tears, been laying in bed with the heating pad for the last hour and a half. Thanks!!

Stacking. You ate too fast and it's staked up in your esophagus. You have to eat super slow or this happens. It's very uncomfortable and the only thing that helps is walking it out and waiting for it to pass. Could be a very uncomfortable few hours.

Dammit. I called the surgeon office to talk to a nurse about the tums - got my surgeon he's doing on call - he said no because they aren't sugar free they will make things worse.

However I just felt the need to vomit, went in and had a good 6 heaves but nothing came out. I feel a little better. It's now been 5 hours since I ate. :/

Please tell me this gets easier.

It happened to me once and I used tums chewables. You have to eat super slow. Like take a teeny bite and wait 2 minutes before taking the second bite slow. I'd take the tums. One time won't kill you and you'll know to eat slower next time.

I know. It's a horrible feeling but eventually you have to eat real food. You just have to go insanely snail's pace slow. Glad you're feeling better!

sorry for your pain newbie

as others have said - you possibly/probably ate too fast

here is some kleenex

wipe your pretty eyes :)

and blow your nose :)

now, don't you feel better? :)

"accidentally" i have been in the same situation

i lay down - fell asleep quickly cuz i was hurting,

woke up 1/2 hour later

all better :)

back to my "normal" self ;)

i frequently still use baby spoons and forks

definitely helps me/you slow down with your eating :)

eating toooo fast??

KNOCK IT OFF ;) :D :D

good luck :)

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
