Hello everyone,

I'm four weeks post op and today I've been dizzy each time I stand up! I stayed home from work today because I didn't trust myself to not fall. Anyone else experience this?

I am five months out and I have been dizzy, however tonight when I got up to go to the bathroom. I had to hold on to the wall and I believe I actually fainted. I felt my legs start to wobble and kinda slid down the wall. I am at my goal as of last week and I am having a hard time eating enough food to maintain rather than lose.

Thanks for your reply. I think perhaps I'm not getting enough in either. Have you been dizzy the entire 5 months?

This happened to me early on as well. I wasn't taking in enough calories and had low blood pressure. I began drinking diluted Gatorade (not G2) so that I'd be sure I was always taking in calories and I felt better almost immediately.

I find that when I get dizzy when I don't drink enough Water &/or haven't eaten enough. I have had a few of those drunk walking moments (when you are walking sideways into the wall to prevent yourself from falling on your face).

Are you meeting your Water and Protein goals? Dehydration can cause dizziness.

Pretty much the whole time yes, on and off. But I can tell you the last two months it seems to have been getting worse. I will be talking to my surgeon in a week and a half to get his thoughts. :). Good luck and I hope yours gets resolved quickly.

I'm doing better with hydration than I am protein. Really making an effort to get more protein. Today I ordered unflavored protein to get more in. I'm almost 5 weeks out but can barely easy puréed food.

It may be a combination of not taking your med and not getting adequate nutrition. I wouldn't wait a week to see the doctor, give them a call and let them know what's going on. They may want to see you sooner or give you recommendations over the phone. I don't want to alarm you,but things can go badly pretty quickly. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
