I just got email today from Cleveland Clinic they have scheduled me for 3 appointments. First is with a medical weight loss doctor. Then 2 weeks later is nutrition, psych test and then with psych doctor. My last appointment is 2 weeks later with the surgeon. Is that last appointment with a surgeon to go over everything and should I get my surgery date then? Thanks for any info. I am so excited to finally begin this journey!

Everybody is different but from the sounds of it, you are getting closer. They usually need to submit everything for Nutritionist and psych to insurance before an approval is issued.

Hi - I am having surgery at the Cleveland Clinic as well! Are these your first appointments? If so, at these appointments they will talk and counsel you to make work through the various approvals -- they will decide what other tests you may need before they can submit to your insurance and order those. If you don't need anything else, you they will help you to make sure you have met all the need of your insurance company (if going that route).

THEN - submitted to insurance - insurance approval - call with a date - preop testing about 5-6 days before surgery

I am getting sleeved on Feb 10th!

Good luck to you! Hope it goes quickly!

They go through the procedure and post op recovery as well as life at home after, diet, Vitamins and such in detail. Mine referred to it as bariatric bootcamp. I did my pre op testing in the morning and bootcamp in the afternoon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
