Hi everyone. I am home now and completely miserable. I know my body has been through hell and back but I didn't think I would feel this awful. I have zero energy and my body hurts all over. All I want to do is lay down but if I lay for to long my legs start cramping. If I sit up for to long my back starts hurting. I seem to stay nauseous. I can't handle anything on my stomach but a little bit of Water. This has me so depressed. I just lay here and cry. Which gets me chocked up and I throw up what little water I have in my stomach. Please tell me it will get better. I don't want to end up back in the hospital but I feel that is where I am headed. I feel so alone, helpless, and scared.

I am so sad to hear this. I had my one day of depression on Saturday and I felt like my world was ending. I cannot imagine what you're going through. All I can do is pray for you and hope for the best. I am so sorry.

everyone responding to what has happened to you, is with you in spirit. I can only imagine that you are feeling emotionally and physically tapped out. And yet, u must find the strength to get your fluids in to give your body what it needs so you can heal and move on to the next phase with food, etc., and then day by day, you'll start feeling better. In the meantime, do you have the energy to take short walks...even if it's in your living room? Moving, change of senery, or fresh air, might help with your back pain and lift your mood. Is there anything you can think of to do that would cheer you or help you feel better, e.g., watch a funny movie, take a shower, mediation, a friend or family you could call...? I feel for you sweetie and pray you r feeling better very soon.

I'm sorry that you're going through this. I hope you feel better soon. I wish I had better words of wisdom but I'm not doing so great myself.

I had to go back to the hospital early in my recovery too. I fought it for an entire week. I had flulike symptoms that I just tolerated and ignored because my experience in my complicated, lengthy original hospital stay had been so miserable. Finally, my doctor ordered me back. I DID NOT want to go, but I went. Turns out I had a kidney infection, and had I continued to struggle at home, I could have been in very serious trouble. Now, looking back, I'm glad I went in. I jumpstarted my recovery. If you can't stay hydrated, you should go back in. Being seriously dehydrated will compromise your ability to heal and recovery, and is dangerous anyway.

The first month of my recovery was pretty hellish. But then things even out. I'm now 10 weeks out, and yes, it does get better. I have lost a lot of weight (31 pounds), and I'm not sick anymore. I just live my day to day life. The suffering was definitely worth it. You'll get over the hump too, even if now, it doesn't look like it. Hang in there.

@crissylynn82 Hang in there! What you are feeling is absolutely normal. I have been a nurse for 33 years. Many people just don't realize how much being ill or having a complication takes out of the body and the emotional toll it can take. @@Catcutie gave excellent advice. Move as much as you can, keep sipping liquids, and focus on recovering. You can do this!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
